Planning Department Mission Statement



The mission of the Planning Department is to provide land use and zoning services to the citizens of Clyde while assisting in the development of the Town. The Town provides these services within the corporate limits and extra territorial jurisdiction of the Town of Clyde.

The Department ensures that changes to the community's physical environment comply with applicable land development policy, rules, and regulations. 

Staff reviews development proposals, policies, codes, and ordinances to ensure consistency with town policy and land development code requirements, utilizing the Town’s Land Use Plan, Zoning Ordinance, and Subdivision Ordinance.

Such development proposals include requests for voluntary annexation, zoning map amendments, special use permits, variances, subdivision plans, and site plans.

The Town of Clyde contracts with Haywood County for building permits and inspections. To obtain a building permit, you will first need to acquire a zoning permit from the Town of Clyde.
